DARE TO GO DEEP WITH GOD!

Join Western Boulevard Presbyterian for Vacation Bible School 2012, June 11-15, from 9:00am-12:00 noon.  Your divers will go on a deep sea exploration to explore what it means to have deep faith in God!  By meeing Bible characters with deep faith, the children will discover ocean insights that help them follow God.  Register to attend by completeing the form that is available at the church.  Contact blytheclifford@gmail.com to volunteer to help.

Drivers are needed to help deliver meals to the homebound on April 30.  Please contact Marcia Bennett if you are able to help.  Meals are picked-up at 11:00 at the facility on Blair Drive.  Each participant is given  detailed information on the route they need to take.  Call Marcia if you can help support this important ministry.

A mission team of 10-12 people plans to travel to Haiti to help the children at the Yahve-Jire Children’s home move into their new location.  The team is collecting items that are needed in the Haiti house…things like tableware, cookware, first-aid supplies and the like.  Check out the Haiti House in the narthex to see items that are needed and to volunteer to supply some of the needs.   The deadline is June 7. Easter is a very special day in the life of all Christian churches.  At Western Boulevard we rejoice in worship at the great news that JESUS LIVES!

This year the morning begins with a hot breakfast cooked by the Men of the Church at 8:45.  Sunday School begins at 9:30 and worship at 10:30. 

Following worship, there is a celebration in our courtyard with children finding Easter eggs  and adults greeting one another.

Members and friends have prepared and planted six garden plots near Kaplan Drive.  At the present time there are tomatoes, cucumber, pepper, lettuce, beans, onions, raddish, and a few herbs and flowers growing in the garden.   Come by any Saturday around 9:00am  and check out the progress and help do whatever is needed.

Henry Burke and Larry Shelton have teamed up to  lead this community garden at WBPC.  They hope to benefit from the experience of Highland United Methodist Church’s community garden.   The hope is that this garden willl "bear fruit" for our church in a number of ways: provide fresh organic vegetables for ourselves, our neighbors and the hungry; increase our knowledge of sound gardening practices; and grow intergenerational relationships with one another and our surrounding neighborhood. 

The group has seen the results of a few seeds spread by our children and hope to have a crop that has more to harvest.

Sign up for our version of WBPC dinner club. Starts in February 2012. This will be the sixth year of bringing members together in a informal setting and getting to know each other over dinner. The groups are designed to combine singles, and couples of all ages. Our staff has the knack of getting the right mix for a great time of fellowship. Members of the group decide where to go for dinner. Sign up on clipboards in Narthex and Fellowship Hall.   Please sign up by February 5, 2012.

New Group – LUNCH OUT

 This year we will add a new lunch out group. Please sign up on the Lunch-Out clipboard sheet in the Narthex or Fellowship Hall.   These groups will be six or eight in size and will rotate members each year. Members of the group will take turns deciding where to dine.  The group members will select a date and join together at different places for a fun time.  Please sign-up by February 5 if you are interested.  Singles and couples of all ages are welcome.

Do you enjoy singing Christmas Carols ?  On Wednesday December 21 at 6:00 pm bring a pot of soup to the Fellowship Hall to share.  At 6:30  pm we’ll head out and go caroling around the neighborhood.  All ages are invited to participate in this fun activity.  Bring a flashlight to help you find your way and wear comfortable shoes. Friends and neighbors are welcome.  There will be plenty of soup so invite others to join you and come and have a fun time.  After serenading our neighbors, we will return to the church to warm-up with cookies and cider. 

Looks like the weather will cooperate. WBPC will be Christmas caroling on Wednesday, December 21.  The weather forecast is for light showers both Wednesday and Thursday so we will plan to go ahead with caroling Wednesday evening.  Dinner will be held in the Fellowship Hall from 6 – 6:30 p.m.  Bring soup to share! We’ll get organized and leave for caroling about 6:45. Bring a flashlight. Weather will be warm, but bring your rain gear, just in case. We’ll walk or drive to our destinations come light rain or shine. Afterwards, return to the church for light refreshments. Hope you can join us. Invite your friends!
