Food for Urban Ministry Center to distribute to needy

During March, the youth coordinate a food drive in connection with the ACC and NCAA tournament. Members are encouraged to bring food bags labeled for the team they support. Will UNC be able to top NC State this year?? The food bags go to the Urban Ministry Center and are distributed to needy in this area. A bag consists of the following items: 14.5 oz. can beans, 14.5 oz. can carrots, 14.5 oz. can tomatoes, 16 oz. can applesauce, 1 lb. grits, 1 lb. rice, 1 lb. dried beans, 2 boxes macaroni & cheese, 2 envelopes powdered milk, tuna or other canned meat, peanut butter, and cereal.

Fifty-Plus – Bingo in Fellowship Hall – Friday March 19. Bring bag lunch and a small gift and plan to join the fun.

Wake Interfaith Hospitality Week - April 4-11, 2010

Make plans now to help with the Wake Interfaith Hospitality Week. Sign up on line or on the sign-up boards in the church. These are some of the needs. Sign up sheet.

Overnight host and hostess: Male and female needed to spend night at church. Arrive around 8:30 pm and leave around 7:30. Beds are set up in the nursery room and parlor. Handle any concerns overnight and be sure that guests are up and ready to return to the day center by 7:00 am. Supervise breakfast. Easy breakfast foods (cereals, poptarts, etc) are available for guests.

Evening host and hostess: Male and female to be at church from around 5:30 pm until overnight host arrive. Interact with families, eat dinner, and perhaps plan evening activities for children.

Meal Preparer: Prepare and serve meal to guest at around 6:30 pm.

Drivers: Pick up or return guests to the day center on Kent Road. Some guests have their own transportation but others need transportation support. Evening time around 6:00 pm and morning time around 7:00 am.

Set up Helpers: Prepare SS rooms for guests on Sunday of WIHN week.

Breakdown helpers: Return SS rooms to regular use early Sunday morning.

Laundry Helpers: Wash sheets, etc at end of week…

Sunday March 21, 2010 – John Rutter Requiem -

The choir will perform the John Rutter Requiem during the 10:30 worship service.

Sunday March 28 – Palm Sunday -Palm Processional 10:30 worship

All children meet outside the sanctuary at 10:15 am.

April 1- Maundy Thursday / Tenebrae Service – 7:00 pm

This sacred service celebrates the Last Supper that Jesus had with disciples. Communion will be served.

April 4 – Easter Sunday

6:30 am – Community Sunrise Service

7:30 – 9:00 am – Sunrise Service Breakfast

9:30 – Church School – Bring fresh flowers for the flower cross on the church lawn.

10:30 - Easter Morning Worship Service

11:30 – Easter Celebration – In the courtyard following morning worship (including an Easter Egg Hunt)

5:00 pm -Easter @ The Table Service

Brown Bag Ministry

Help feed the hungry first Saturday of month

WBPC is signed up to work with the Brown Bag Ministry the first Saturday of each month. This is a continuation of the ministry started in June 2009 by the elementary Sunday School classes. All ages are welcome; this is a great family ministry. We will meet at WBPC at 8:30 am on these Saturday mornings and go to St. Andrew Catholic Church in Apex. We will then unload supplies, and begin to prepare and pack the lunch bags. We will leave the church at about 11:40 to go to Moore Square. We usually finish up by 1:00 pm.

St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church is located at 3008 Old Raleigh Rd., Apex, NC 27502. (You can meet us there at 9:00 am if you prefer). If you are unable to join us but want to contribute to this effort, we will be collecting the items listed below. Also, any kind of desserts that will fit in Ziploc bags are welcome. If you bring items to the WBPC church kitchen by 8:30 a.m. on our Saturday, we will take them to the church for packing into bags.

Items needed: sliced cheese, ziploc bags, Nabs, granola bars
